Organisation & Resources

The construction of the new offices and depot at Clay Cross near Chesterfield now provides modern, high class facilities for staff, visitors and clients, together with maintenance and secure storage facilities for the Company’s plant and equipment. This was constructed by
R.B.Allfree & Co. Ltd and completed in August 2008.

Directors

The Company is headed by Roger Whittaker, Managing Director, and Garry Oakes, Contracts Director, working together with a “hands on” approach to manage and deliver any type of civil engineering scheme throughout the region.

Commerical Management

The head office team cover all the skills required, from estimating and procurement through to quantity surveying, all IT competent and trained for use of the very latest software solutions.

Contract Management & Delivery

An established team of managers, engineers and surveyors provide a total service to meet clients’ needs. The fully trained and experienced operatives using traditional skills and modern techniques, all CSCS/CPCS qualified, are led by experienced, “tried and trusted” foremen.

Health & Safety and Training

R.B.Allfree & Co. Ltd has an excellent safety record and considers that all aspects of Health & Safety are of ultimate importance. It is the Company’s principal aim to provide at all times a safe and healthy place of work for all its employees, sub-contractors, visitors and the general public.

The Company employs an external independent Health & Safety consultant, who provide a complete H & S support and audit function including carrying out site inspections. They also assist the Company in their role as Principal Contractor with regard to all current H & S Legislation, CDM, COSHH, Method & Risk Assessments, Waste Management Plans, Environmental issues and training.

Contracts are reviewed weekly and recorded, for action and evaluation at the Monthly Management Meeting in order to continually improve performance.

Recognised skills in which the Company’s employees are certified include First Aid, CPCS, CSCS, SMSTS, IOSH Directing Safely, New Roads & Street Work (Supervisor and Operative), Confined Spaces, Abrasive Wheels and CDM Regulations 2007.

Plant and Equipment

The Company manages and maintains their own fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment. These include wheeled and tracked excavators, tipper and grab lorries, dumpers, rollers and compressors together with a wide range of small tools. This plant and equipment is also available for hire, short or long term, with or without operators.

The Company is registered for dealing with Controlled Waste including the development of Site Waste Management Plans as appropriate.
