Company Introduction

R.B.Allfree and Co. Ltd was formed in February 1969 by Barry Allfree, working as a civil engineering contractor from a base in Clay Cross near Chesterfield primarily with Local Authorities, Statutory Undertakers and the National Coal Board. From the start Barry Allfree and his team created and developed a reputation for first class service to both the public and private sectors.

Roger Whittaker and Garry Oakes, the current Managing Director and Contracts Director, joined the Company in 1983 and 1984 respectively, and have been instrumental in building the necessary expertise to ensure that clients’ demand for quality and cost effectiveness is always fulfilled. Paramount throughout is the Company’s objective of continuous improvement in all disciplines but primarily in Health & Safety, Training, Quality and Environmental Issues.

The Company’s experience and expertise enable it to offer a civil engineering and construction service capable of delivering any project, from £200 to £2 million, on time and to budget, which includes Road and Bridge Works, Commercial Developments and Industrial Buildings, Earthworks and Land Reclamation, Hard and Soft Landscaping, Drainage, Sewage Treatment Plants, Car Parks, Associated Railway Works, Piling, Residential Developments and Reinforced Concrete Structures.

In 2008 the Company moved in to new purpose-built offices and depot from where it controls all operations and maintains its own plant and transport fleet extending to over 100 items.

Many of the achievements of the Company have led to long term relationships with clients and employees, bringing about friendship and mutual respect extending over many years.
